When we receive your document, one of our project managers will review the file, apply the details, and match you with one of our editors or proofreaders who he feels would best fit with your task’s criteria. Some things that our project manager evaluates include formatting required, type of document, level and type of English, turnaround time, and any other additional comments or instructions that may have been added by you.

Who should I expect to Edit my Document?

How do you select which editor will Proofread my Document?

Can I choose the type of English I want my academic paper to focus on? (American, British Canadian, and Australian English language)

Yes, you definitely have the option to choose the type of English you want your paper to be written in. In fact, we prefer our clients to indicate their language preferences from the start of the project. In case you forget to specify your language preference, our editors and proofreaders will go ahead with the type of English that you have used in the submitted document, and apply it throughout the revised version consistently. The editor will contact you directly if they have any questions regarding the text.

Would the rewriting of my work change the meaning of the original text?

We have instructed our editors to not rewrite the text provided too much so that the actual meaning and voice of it does not get changed. Our aim is to convey the same meaning as you intended to, whilst making it error-free. However, there may be instances when the editor rewrites or rephrases a set of lines completely. In such a case, the editors make sure to leave comments explaining the revision and ensuring that the original meaning of the text has not been changed. Moreover, please keep in mind that we are a proofreading and editing service, and not a paper-writing service. Hence, we don’t offer rewriting of an entire document. We rewrite only where we feel it is necessary to, as our aim is to provide full-proof content.

How can I calculate the word count of a Document?

You can calculate the word count of any document in Microsoft Word by clicking on “Word Count” under the “Tools” option in the formatting toolbar, or under the “Review” tab. However, while doing so, make sure that the word count matches with the number of words that need to be edited in the document.

Which formatting styles can you apply to my Document?

We know how important it is to use the correct formatting style for your paper to get accepted and published into the journal of your choice. For this purpose, as you place your order for document editing or proofreading, we specifically ask you to mention if there is a specific formatting style that you’d like us to follow, or would like to apply one of the standard formatting styles — APA, MLA, AMA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.

We apply whatever style you’d like us to, which is in accordance to your desired journal’s publishing and acceptance criteria. Our editor makes sure to apply the chosen style to all parts of your document, keeping certain rules and regulations regarding the citations/references, and all other guidelines in mind. I am unable to see any revisions or changes in my Paper? Was it edited?

We try to keep the content that is edited and proofread as neat and tidy as possible. Keeping this in mind, all our editors use Microsoft Word’s “Track Changes” feature which enables one to display all changes and formatting to the text, and view the final edited file without any markups. If you want to view the changes made in MS Word, click on “Review” in the menu bar, and select “All Markup” under the “Track Changes” drop. To view changes to words, letters, and punctuation, be sure to check “Insertions and Deletions” in the “Show Markup” dropdown menu.

Can I send supplementary files to the Editor as a reference?

Yes, you can upload any additional files that you want to guide the editor. These files would act as a reference for our editors to understand the kind of work you want and how they should approach the language editing. However, we recommend our clients to directly send any reference material to their assigned editor by sending them a message and attaching the file in it. When doing so, please make sure to specify that the attached files are only for reference and are not to be edited to avoid any kind of miscommunication.

Do I need to reserve a time slot for my Edit in advance?

No, it isn’t necessary to reserve a time slot for your edit. You can upload it to our system as soon as the document is ready from your end to be proofread. All that you need to do then is chosen a deadline, and our editors will have your document proofread and edited within the selected time frame.

However, if you feel uncertain about the availability of our services or plan to upload a large document (greater than 13,000 words) which needs to be submitted within a 24-hour deadline, then we’d recommend that you contact us beforehand via chat or email.

Can you edit my Document during weekends and holidays?

Yes, our editors are available for your service 7 days a week! All of our proofreaders and editors work remotely and often prefer to proofread or edit documents during weekends and holidays. Your service period begins as soon as your payment is confirmed.

How can I be sure that my Editor will deliver the revised Document timely?

All our editors have an exceptional track record of meeting deadlines, and providing error-free content. However, for your own satisfaction you can check with the status of your document from the “My Account” page. Our company will have a notification sent out to you via text message or email, once the document is ready for pickup.

If due to any reason there is a delay in the delivery of the final version (e.g. due to any technical issues or personal emergency from the editor’s end), you will be informed immediately about it. Under the situation of any technical issues, we make sure to inform our editor as well in a timely manner, and will help to find the best possible solution for it.

Canceling and Changing Order Details

Can I add or update instructions for my Editor, once I have placed my order?

Unfortunately it is not possible to change order details such as English type or word count once the order has been finalized. These changes will impact the order process time or have an editor to re-do the entire work again; which is why we don’t encourage this practice. However, if you want to add additional tips or instructions for your editor, you can contact them directly through the Order Details page.

Another way of going about this is to contact our project manager by emailing at support@editorly.com. The sooner the issue is updated to us, the faster we can notify the editor of any updates you would like to apply.

Is there any way I can cancel my order?

Due to any reason if you’d like to cancel your order before receiving the final document, please email us at support@wordvice.com as soon as possible as soon as possible.

If the editor has not yet begun editing your work, it would be easier for us to cancel the order and refund the entire amount paid. However, if the document has already been assigned to an editor, and he has begun the task, it will not be possible for us to cancel the order.

Under such circumstances, our customer support team contacts the editor on an immediate basis and asks them to discontinue editing. However, the customer will need to pay for the text the editor has edited up till that point. The edited text will be provided as a proof from our end, and to ensure complete transparency.

In case of uploading the wrong file, can I replace it?

Once you have uploaded a document, and it has been forwarded to the editor, the file can’t be deleted or replaced. If you need to submit another version of your document — with only minimal differences between the documents in content/formatting — please contact our support team by emailing them at support@editorly.com.
